The Kansas Education Enrichment Program (KEEP) is a program approved by the State Finance Council, as recommended by the SPARK Executive Committee, to support Kansas families and children recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on learning. KEEP provides qualifying parents and guardians with a $1,000 award per eligible student to pay for a variety of education goods and services that promote educational learning recovery and facilitate academic enrichment opportunities. Beneficiaries can spend their award funds in an online education marketplace that offers a variety of approved education goods and services.

How do I find my student's award ID?

To locate your student’s award ID, visit member.merits.com and enter your login credentials.

Once in your profile, you’ll see a section labeled My Merits.

Select the merit named Parent/Guardian Approval.

Inside you will find the details of the award, including Award ID and Expiration Date, as well as the link to the KEEP app where you can submit a claim.

How are award amounts determined?

Award amounts are not determined – if eligible, the award amount is $1,000 per student. Applications will be reviewed and awarded in the order they are received on a rolling basis.

How will I know if I am awarded a Kansas Education Enrichment Program benefit?

KEEP will send you an email letting you know you application has been approved within 2 weeks of your application. Please make sure your email mailbox is not full. KEEP will provide approved parents and guardians with their accounts and access to an online education marketplace to purchase allowable services and materials.

The Kansas Education Enrichment Program is available to students who are between the ages of 5 (as of August 31, 2023) and 18 years old (as of May 31, 2024). Kansas Education Enrichment Program awards are also available for students above the age of 18 years of age who are still in high school, with proof of active school enrollment in a K-12 program.

Awards will be issued to those who qualify based on applicants whose income is 300% or less of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. Please see the chart(s) below to help determine eligibility:

How do I Order Goally With Kansas KEEP Funds?

  1. Decide which Goally Tablet you’d like to order (the 10″ or the 8″ size)
    • Goally P3 8″ Tablet + 1 year of all Goally premium apps: $299
    • Goally P3 10″ Tablet + 1 year of all Goally premium apps: $399

  3. You’ll receive an invoice of your order in your email!
  4. Open your KEEP app and tap “Login with Merit” (see a full instructional video HERE)
  5. Submit your claim for approval by uploading the invoice you received from Goally
    • IMPORTANT: The order request will not be approved until a claim has been submitted, so we recommend that you submit a claim the same day you make the order request. Additional help center articles can be found here.

What are Eligible Educational Goods and Services?

The following goods and services are eligible for purchase or reimbursement with KEEP funds.

  1. Camps: day, overnight and online camps are allowed. The primary purpose of the camp must be for subjects that are related to academic/school curriculum. Dance camps/lessons are approved as long as not related to competition/team. Transportation to and from camp is covered if it is included with the fee.
  2. Language classes: Online or in person, offered by a licensed organization. Coding can be part of a camp, but not a language class.
  3. Instrument and vocal classes: This includes: The purchase of an instrument or instrument rental fees as long as the instrument is being purchased either from one of the program’s online stores or from a pre-approved QESP. The purchase of sheet music or music books/materials
  4. Tutoring: This service must be provided by an individual working for a business licensed to provide tutoring services, a licensed teacher, or a licensed online tutoring business.
  5. Curriculum materials/school supplies/technology: Items will be limited to those purchased in an online store set up by Merit through one of these types of approved vendors:
    • School supply/office supply vendors
    • Technology provider stores
  6. Classes: Classes can be online or in person. They must be offered by a licensed organization, be related to academic/school curriculum, and have a clearly stated educational value. Classes cannot be used to earn school credits.KEEP funds cannot be used for tuition or fees to a public or private educational institution, dual-enrollment courses or for-credit classes of any kind.
