Circumstance/Diagnosis: Any child or adult older than 3 who has a diagnosis with either an intellectual and/or developmental disability (this includes autism). The state requires that individuals need an intermediate care facility level of care to qualify. This just means that the individual is unable to get through their day without a lot of supervision.
Income: The individual receiving services must not have more than $2,000 in assets (not counting car or house).

Louisiana has a good waiver program apart from their terrible waitlist. No family should have to wait longer than 5 years to receive services, and according to their website 40% of applicants end up doing this. You should pursue other resources using the links below while waiting. We think you are immediately eligible for a $258 stipend if you call your Human Services office.
