How to Make Oatmeal in the Microwave

Let’s be honest: mornings can get pretty hectic, especially if you’re a busy parent trying to get everyone ready and out the door on time. And amidst it all, providing your kids with a nutritious and quick breakfast might be challenging. Wouldn’t it be delightful if your pint-sized partners could whip up their own meals, starting with a simple, nutrient-packed bowl of oatmeal? We’re taking the burden off your shoulders and empowering your kids with a straightforward guide on “how to make oatmeal in the microwave.” Couple it with our educational Goal Mine Class video, and watch your kids become kitchen prodigies before your eyes.

StepProcedure
Step 1: Gather All Your IngredientsGather all the ingredients, namely oats, water/milk, a microwave-safe bowl, and a spoon.
Step 2: Combine the Oats and Water or MilkPour the oats into the bowl and add the water or milk. Stir everything together until you achieve a uniform consistency.
Step 3: Time to MicrowaveCarefully place the bowl in the microwave and set it for two and a half minutes on high.
Step 4: Stir and HeatTake out the bowl, stir the oatmeal, and cook it for an additional two minutes in the microwave. Repeat this process until the oatmeal is cooked to your liking.
Step 5: Let It CoolLet the oatmeal cool down before eating. While waiting, think of what toppings to add to the oatmeal.

Step 1: Gather All Your Ingredients

Explain to the kids the importance of having everything ready before they start. Here’s what they’ll need:

  • Oats – Half a cup of their favorite oats will do the trick.
  • Water or Milk – One cup of either liquid, depending on their preference.
  • A Microwave-safe Bowl – Something large enough to prevent spilling over when the oatmeal cooks.
  • A Spoon – For the all-important stirring.

Step 2: Combine The Oats and Water or Milk

Instruct the kids to pour the oats into the bowl and add water or milk. Mixing is key; ask them to stir everything together using the spoon, targeting a uniform consistency. Knowing how to make oatmeal in the microwave is as much a science as a fun-filled, character-building exercise.

Step 3: Time to Microwave

Now that everything’s combined, it’s time for action. Instruct your child to carefully place the bowl in the microwave and set it on high for two and a half minutes. Remember to tell them not to close the microwave door too hard—gentleness can be a valuable trait in the kitchen, after all!

Step 4: Stir and Heat

After the microwave beeps, it’s time to (carefully!) take out the bowl using oven mitts to protect those small hands. Stir the oatmeal, pop it back into the microwave, and cook for two more minutes. Repeat this process until the oatmeal is cooked to their liking.

Step 5: Let It Cool

Have the kids wait patiently (and safely) for their oatmeal to cool down before they dig in. Maybe set a timer! While they wait, they can think of creative toppings to add to their bowl of goodness – perhaps some bananas or a sprinkle of cinnamon? That should make the wait worthwhile!
