Summary

summary

In February 2025, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee signed the Education Freedom Act of 2025, establishing a universal Education Savings Account (ESA) program for all K–12 students in the state. This legislation marks a significant expansion from the previous pilot programs limited to certain districts.

The ESA program is funded through a combination of state and local dollars. Each eligible student receives $7,296 annually, which is disbursed quarterly. The first quarter’s allocation is scheduled for July 1, 2025.
